Substitution of Fossil fuels by biofuels: Biofuels, which can be made from crops, are an alternative form of energy production that has been explored for the past few decades. Combustion of biofuels does generate CO2 just like fossil fuels, but since they originate from renewable sources, this means that the CO2 is simply recycled. This provides a global CO2 balance closer to neutral. We have to be careful here, though; we do not want to use food for energy. Non-edible fats and waste are the most viable sources that offer us the best advantage and researchers are currently working to find a way to use them as biofuels.
